About this book
The story
Somewhere between Chicago and Seattle, aboard the Empire Builder sleeper train, Dorothy Martin looks out and sees a man fall. She and her husband Alan Nesbitt, a retired chief constable, chose the scenic route on their way from England to a wedding on Vancouver Island. Now there is a body beside the line and a string of questions Dorothy cannot leave alone: who he was, whether he was already dead when he fell, and what a confrontation on board might have had to do with it.
Jeanne M. Dams gives her Anglophile sleuth a neatly confined stage, with the long American landscape rolling past and a train full of strangers who may know more than they admit. This is a warm, twisty mystery for anyone who likes their detection traditional, with a husband and wife puzzling it out side by side.
