A bounty hunter who knows what it means to run must outrun her own past.
Reading guide
This is a standalone novel, so there is no reading order to follow and you can start straight away.
Elle Randolph is tracking a fugitive in the Mendocino County wilderness when the manager of her inn is killed. Detective Ronan Clarke suspects Elle and her boss Sara, and as he questions them he realises the fugitive may be involved, while Elle keeps back secrets from her past.

Description

Elle Randolph tracks fugitives for a living, and she is very good at it because she understands what it is to run. Years ago she walked away from an accident that killed her abusive husband, and that past has never quite let go of her. Now she is deep in the wilderness of Mendocino County, hunting a wanted man, when the manager of the inn where she is staying is found murdered.

This standalone thriller from Karen Rose puts Elle and her boss, Sara, under suspicion from local detective Ronan Clarke, who believes their fugitive may be the killer. Trust is scarce on both sides, and when another body turns up, Ronan becomes convinced that Elle is holding something back. It suits readers who like their suspense taut and their heroines carrying secrets.
