Stick Man

A stick, a dog and a very long way home.
Reading guide
This is a standalone picture book, so there is no order to follow and you can start straight away.
Stick Man lives happily in the family tree with his family and longs to get back to them. A dog mistakes him for an ordinary stick and carries him away, and he is thrown, snapped up and put to work in all sorts of ways as he travels further from home, still insisting he is not just a stick.

Description

Stick Man lives in the family tree with his Stick Lady Love and their three stick children, and all he wants is to get back to them. When a dog mistakes him for an ordinary stick, he is carried further and further from home, thrown, snapped up and put to work in all sorts of ways. Through it all he insists to anyone who will listen that he is not just a stick.

Julia Donaldson's bouncing rhymes and repeated refrain make this a joy to read aloud, and Axel Scheffler's illustrations follow Stick Man through the seasons towards Christmas. It suits small children who love joining in, and any family looking for a warm, funny story about finding your way back to the people you love.
