Bookish Volume 2

A witty, warm-hearted mystery for book lovers, set in post-war London
Reading guide
The publisher presents this as the second volume, so readers may want to start with the earlier book to meet the characters and the shop before following Book's long-running personal mystery.
Gabriel Book, proprietor of Book's Books in London in 1946, is called on by Inspector Bliss to help with new and deadly crimes. Alongside these cases, Book is edging closer to solving a personal mystery that has haunted him for over a decade.

Description

London, 1946, and the capital is still living with rationing and bomb damage. At Book's Books, antiquarian Gabriel Book sells rare second-hand volumes and, when Inspector Bliss of Bow Street needs him, turns his mind to murder. He works alongside his wife Trottie, who runs a wallpaper shop, the true crime enthusiast Nora, and Jack, who never expected to find a home among the shelves. Dog keeps a close eye on proceedings, chiefly in search of ginger biscuits.

Adapted by Matthew Sweet from the television series created by Mark Gatiss, this second volume brings new murders alongside an older puzzle that has troubled Book for more than a decade. The publisher describes it as a surprising, entertaining mystery about books, murder and the lengths people will go to keep their secrets safe.
