Bookish Volume 2

London, 1946, and the capital is still picking its way through rationing and bomb sites. At Book's Books, antiquarian Gabriel Book divides his attention between rare second-hand volumes and the crimes Inspector Bliss of Bow Street sometimes brings to his door. Around him gather his wife Trottie, who runs a wallpaper shop; Nora, a devoted student of true crime; Jack, who never expected to find a home among the shelves; and Dog, chiefly concerned with ginger biscuits.

Adapted by Matthew Sweet from the television series created by Mark Gatiss, this second volume sets new murders alongside an older puzzle: a personal mystery that has haunted Book for more than a decade, and which he is now edging towards solving. A cosy, clever period whodunnit for anyone who likes their detectives surrounded by books.
