The Hollow

At eleven, after his mother's murder, Harry Bosch became a ward of the state at MacLaren Children's Center, where abuse was rampant. Decades later, a vast settlement for former residents brings his half-brother Mickey Haller with news of $400,000 owed. Bosch wants none of it. He wants justice for Chops, a boy found dead in the hidden space beneath a staircase the staff used for punishment, a place the children called the hollow.

That death was covered up and never solved. Working through old files, Bosch picks up the trail of a predator who went on to a life of vicious crime. Connelly sends his detective back to the place that scarred him and set him on the road to becoming a cop. For anyone who has followed Bosch this far, it is the most personal case of all.
