The Lion in Love

Shelagh Delaney was still barely out of her teens when A Taste of Honey made her name, and The Lion in Love was the play she wrote next. It was first presented by Wolf Mankowitz at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, on 5 September 1960, at a moment when British theatre was opening its doors to working-class voices from the North.

This Forgotten Books edition reproduces an original printed text in facsimile, so the occasional blemish of the source may remain. It is a fine find for anyone following Delaney beyond her famous debut, or for readers drawn to the new drama of the early sixties.
