# Until It's Over

Dorothy Van Soest's novel moves between a small midwestern town in 1960 and the present day. In 1960, Sylvia Jensen is a naïve seventeen-year-old when Anthony Jordane, the state wrestling champion and local hero, tries to rape her. In 2025 he is running for the U.S. Senate, and when Sylvia learns that his campaign has strong indigenous support, the shock leaves her in cardiac arrest.

Her old friend J.B. Harrell, an investigative reporter whose bond with Sylvia has lasted decades, begins to untangle a web of silence and rumour, and finds his own loyalties pulled in different directions. The book is a mystery about how early harm shapes a life, and about remembering the past and acting on it. Readers who enjoy suspense rooted in character, with an older heroine who refuses to let the past stay buried, will find plenty to hold their attention.
