The White Princess: Cousins' War 5

A York princess, a Tudor king and a claimant from beyond the sea.
Reading guide
As the fifth Cousins' War novel, it builds on the characters and events of the earlier books, so readers new to the sequence will get the most from it by reading the earlier novels first.
After Henry Tudor takes the crown at Bosworth, he must marry Elizabeth of York to unite the country. Her loyalty is tested when a young man claiming to be her lost brother appears abroad with an army, and she must decide whether to trust her husband or her blood.

Description

When Henry Tudor takes the English crown from the mud of Bosworth Field, he must marry Elizabeth of York to bring a divided country together. She goes to him still in love with his enemy, while her mother, the White Queen, and the loyal Yorkists keep hoping their missing heir will come home. Then news arrives that a young man claiming to be her lost brother is raising an army overseas.

This is the fifth novel in Philippa Gregory's Cousins' War sequence, and it turns on a question Elizabeth cannot escape: is he the boy her mother sent into the unknown, or a low-born counterfeit? Torn between her husband and her blood, she watches the new king's courage begin to crumble. It is a rich, absorbing story for anyone who likes their history told through the women who lived it.
