# The Wedding People

Phoebe Stone arrives at the Cornwall Inn, a grand beachside hotel in Rhode Island, in her best dress and least comfortable shoes, and is mistaken for a wedding guest. She is the only guest not there for the wedding, and she has come divorced, low in spirits and with plans of her own. The bride, Lila, has prepared for every possible disaster, though not for her.

The two women's careful arrangements come undone, and each finds in the other an unexpected confidante. Alison Espach writes about love, friendship and difficult families with a light touch and real warmth. Published by Hachette UK in 2024, the novel won the Goodreads Choice Award for Fiction, and it suits readers who like their comedy with a little feeling underneath.
