Description

Somewhere in a crumbling Highland house is a book valuable enough to save the whole estate, and nobody knows its name. Mirren Sutherland, who has already found a priceless antique volume in her great aunt's attic, is summoned north by Jamie, the estate's worried heir. She arrives on the family's own train to find Theo Palliser, a rival bookseller who is as attractive as he is unscrupulous.

Jamie's grandfather was a collector, hoarder and lover of puzzles, so the search becomes a treasure hunt of clues and hidden corners. Estate manager Maggie joins in as snow cuts off the house and the year runs out. Jenny Colgan mixes bookish mystery, shifting alliances and romance into a warm, snowbound winter story for anyone who loves old houses and older books.
