# The Rosie Project

Graeme C. Simsion's novel introduces Don Tillman, a Melbourne geneticist who has never had a second date. Approaching the problem as a scientist, he designs the Wife Project, a questionnaire to screen out smokers, drinkers and the unpunctual. Then Rosie arrives, failing nearly every criterion, with a project of her own: she wants to find her biological father.

Told in Don's precise, literal and earnest voice, the book finds its humour in the gap between what he notices and what he misses. Beneath the comedy is a tender story about routine, difference and letting someone in. Penguin Books published it in 2014, and it suits readers who like their romances clever and a little unconventional.
