# The French Illusion

John Grisham's *The French Illusion* was published by Hodder & Stoughton in 2026, and it takes the author well beyond the courtroom. The story begins with a honeymoon. Paul and Chelsea Tanner, newly married, are kidnapped during a day trip into the French countryside, and nobody can say who has taken them or why. It also seems they are not the first couple this has happened to.

As the search crosses borders, the FBI, the CIA and French intelligence each try to fit the pieces together. When answers fail to arrive, a young lawyer is recruited as bait in an elaborate CIA operation. The book suits readers who like lean, fast thrillers full of reversals, with a lawyer caught in the middle.
