Reading guide
There is one book to read here, so start with The Chapel of Bones and follow the investigation from the discovery at Sycamore House onwards.
Builders renovating Sycamore House find a mummified body hidden behind a wall. It is identified as Dr Aleric Donnal, who vanished over a decade ago, when a new age commune occupied the house. While DI Wesley Peterson looks for suspects, archaeologist Neil Watson investigates a nearby chapel decorated with mythical carvings. A second killing in a neighbouring village then raises the question of whether the crimes are connected.

Description

When builders renovating Sycamore House in South Devon break through a wall, they find a mummified body. It belongs to Dr Aleric Donnal, a scholar of the county's medieval past who vanished more than a decade ago, when the house was home to a new age commune that believed it stood on an ancient sacred site. DI Wesley Peterson and his team must work out who would want Donnal dead, while archaeologist Neil Watson excavates a nearby chapel once decorated with grotesque carvings of mythical creatures.

Kate Ellis, a million-copy bestselling author, weaves folklore, archaeology and police work together in this new DI Wesley Peterson mystery. When a second murder takes place in a neighbouring village, Wesley has to separate truth from myth to discover whether the crimes are connected. It suits readers who like their crime rooted in landscape and history.
