# Superworm

Superworm is a hero who can stretch himself into a lasso, a fishing-line or a skipping-rope, and he is always wiggling off to rescue someone in the garden. Julia Donaldson's rhyming verse bounces along, and Axel Scheffler's bright, busy illustrations give him plenty of swagger, with his insect friends cheering from the sidelines.

Then Superworm is caught by the wicked Wizard Lizard, and the rescuer needs rescuing. The smallest creatures in the garden must hatch a cunning plan of their own. This 2016 picture book from Alison Green Books is about friends being brave for one another, with a rousing refrain that small children will soon be chanting. It suits little ones who love a hero and a villain, and a rhyme made for reading aloud.
