# Sacrifice

Detective Jack Warr leads Scotland Yard's fledgling art fraud unit, and its survival depends on proving that a multimillion-dollar painting is a forgery. When his informant, the gallerist Ester Langton, is brutally murdered, the case stops being a matter of brushstrokes and provenance. The trail leads to Adam Border, a reclusive genius living in a decaying Sicilian villa with Mafia ties and a history of violence.

The publisher describes this as the final book in Lynda La Plante's Jack Warr series. As Jack's hunt becomes an obsession, he moves away from his family and his duty, and the question of which side of the law he stands on comes to the fore. It is a dark, fast crime novel for readers who enjoy police procedure and a morally uneasy detective.
