# Night School

Night School is the twenty-first Jack Reacher novel by Lee Child, published in 2016. It begins with an intercepted message about an American who wants a hundred million dollars, and nobody knows who he is or what he is selling. Set in 1996, after the Soviets are gone, it follows Reacher after a secret mission as he is given a medal in the morning and sent back to school in the afternoon. His classmates are an FBI agent and a CIA analyst.

It reunites Reacher with Frances Neagley and returns to his Army years, so it reads well on its own. Expect clipped prose, sharp deductions and a steadily tightening net. It suits readers who like lean, clever thrillers set at a precise moment in recent history.
