# Knowledge Encyclopedia (Dkyr)

Planets, volcanoes, wild animals and the human body are shown in computer-generated 3-D images, so a subject can be seen from the inside rather than only read about. DK produced the book with the Smithsonian Institution, and the pictures do much of the work of explaining.

The encyclopedia is organised into six chapters covering space, earth, nature, the human body, science and technology, and history and culture, followed by a reference section. Maps, timelines and graphics sit alongside a steady stream of facts, which break complicated ideas into manageable pieces. It suits a family shelf, serving as a practical aid for homework and as a book a curious child can open at random and enjoy.
