# Jackdaws

Jackdaws is a Second World War novel by Ken Follett, published by Pan in 2002. It is set in occupied France in the weeks before the Allied invasion and follows the French Resistance as it works against the German forces and their intelligence networks. Readers who enjoy Follett's historical storytelling will find a large, absorbing wartime story built around a clear deadline.

The book opens two weeks before D-Day, when a Resistance attack on a heavily defended telephone exchange carrying Nazi communications fails. British agent Flick Clairet then proposes an all-female team, the Jackdaws, to take the exchange before the landings. The tension comes from a contest between Flick and the spy-catcher Dieter Franck, who is closing in, and the story is driven by love, courage and revenge.
