# In the Bones

Set in Cape Vincent, a remote peninsula in New York's Thousand Islands, the story opens as summer nears and Mikko Helle, a wealthy former ice hockey star, moves into a renovated house on the water. Few in town know him. Nicole Durham, a local mother of two, works to become his cleaner, not only for the wages but because she has a secret to expose.

When Nicole disturbs an intruder, State Police Investigator Tim Wellington finds bones of an unidentified young woman in the mansion's basement. The newcomer, the local and the thief each have something to hide. The publisher calls it the first in a new North Country series, suited to readers who enjoy a tight circle of suspects and small-town tensions.
