House of Sky and Breath

A pact of silence, a romance on a knife edge, and a choice that could cost everything.
Reading guide
The story picks up from events earlier in the Crescent City story, so it is best read after those, to make sense of the history between Bryce and Hunt. The romance and the political plot both depend on what has already happened.
Bryce and Hunt agree to keep their distance until the Winter Solstice while they come to terms with the spring. Their friends are pulled into a rebel movement, and the group must avoid the attention of the Asteri while deciding whether to stay silent or fight.

Description

Bryce Quinlan and Hunt Athalar have agreed to keep things strictly platonic until the Winter Solstice, but the pact looks shakier with every chapter. They are still working through what happened in the spring, and the charge between them could set Crescent City alight. Then a rebel movement they want nothing to do with drags them and their friends into the sight of the Asteri, whose notice they must avoid at all costs.

Sarah J. Maas widens the stakes from private grief to a question of conscience: stay silent while others are oppressed, or fight. Bryce and Hunt have never been good at staying silent. Big, romantic and full of slow-burning tension, this is one for anyone who likes their fantasy sweeping and their love stories hard won.
