Reading guide

The publisher presents this as the sixth and final volume of Heartstopper, so it is best read by those already familiar with Nick and Charlie's story.

Description

Everyone at school knows Nick and Charlie, and everyone assumes they will be together forever. But Charlie is campaigning to become head boy, and Nick is getting ready to leave for university. For the first time, Nick finds himself wondering who he is without Charlie. Alice Oseman's sixth and final Heartstopper volume moves from first love to the harder, quieter question of how love survives change.

The drawings remain tender and expressive, and the story treats mental health, eating disorders, drinking and sex with the same honesty that has made the series so trusted by teenage readers. For anyone who has followed these two boys since their first meeting in a classroom, it is a warm, bittersweet and fitting farewell.
