# Funnybones

Funnybones is a picture book for young children, set on a dark dark hill in a dark dark town. Down in a cellar live a big skeleton, a little skeleton and a dog skeleton, and one night they set out to frighten somebody. What follows is far sillier than scary. The repeated lines invite small listeners to chant along, and the pale bones against inky backgrounds give them plenty to look at on every page.

Janet Ahlberg's story was published by Puffin in 1999, and it has been read aloud for generations. It suits a Halloween evening as well as an ordinary bedtime, and it is a good choice for young children who enjoy a little shiver, and for grown-ups who like doing the voices.
