# Fruit Fly

Josh Silver's Fruit Fly, published by Simon and Schuster in 2026, follows Mallory, whose debut made her a literary sensation seven years earlier. Her writer's block has left her desperate to revive her career. Then she meets Leo, a young addict sleeping under bridges, and sees the material for her comeback.

Silver turns that premise into a satire of a publishing world hungry for stories that are gay, sad and dark, with a thriller's tension as Mallory's secrets threaten to unravel more than her career. Its central question is how far she will go for the perfect story. It suits readers who like literary fiction that is knowing, uncomfortable and menacing.
