Bone Head

The finest skeleton guardian in the underworld is about to find out how hard dog-sitting can be.
Reading guide
Start at the first diary entry, where Demise's boasting and his run-in with Hades set up the rest of the story.
Convinced he is the best guardian in the underworld, Demise tries to impress Hades and causes disaster. As punishment, he and Mort are put in charge of Cerberus, and keeping a three-headed dog under control proves to be a much bigger task than two creatures made of bones expected.

Description

Demise, known to everyone as Bone Head, is a skeleton guardian of the underworld and, in his own opinion, the finest one ever assembled. Fire and marauding dragons don't worry him. What does worry him is that Hades, his Big Boss, barely knows he exists. His attempt to win some attention goes horribly wrong, the gates of Hades' castle fall apart, and he and Mort are given the job of looking after Cerberus, the famously ferocious three-headed dog.

The story is told in diary form, with a bickering double act at its heart and bold two-colour illustrations throughout. It's a silly take on Greek myths for young readers who like their heroes hopelessly overconfident, and it promises a riotous time down below.
