# Black Forest Souvenirs: Collected in Northern Pennsylvania (Metalmark)

The book gathers the correspondence between Cardinal Mazarin, chief minister to the young Louis XIV, and Antoine d'Aumont, Marshal of France, letters passing between a minister and a soldier in seventeenth-century France. A selection of letters written to d'Aumont by the King, the Queen Regent, Gaston d'Orléans, Le Tellier, Louvois and, notably, Oliver Cromwell follows them, bringing other voices of the period to the same recipient.

The text is in French and is reproduced in facsimile from an original library copy, so readers should expect old library stamps, the occasional blurred page and the feel of a historical document. Published in 2018 by Creative Media Partners, it offers a primary source on how France was governed and fought in the age of Mazarin.
