Clive Barker gave the world the Cenobites twice: first on the page in The Hellbound Heart, then on screen when he brought Hellraiser to the cinema. Decades later he returned to write a new chapter in the official continuity, and this omnibus gathers it in one heavy volume: Clive Barker's Hellraiser issues 1 to 20 plus the first Annual, more than 500 pages in all.

Barker shares the writing with Christopher Monfette, Brandon Seifert and others, while artists including Leonardo Manco, Stephen Thompson and Jesús Hervás give the Cenobites, and Pinhead above all, their ornate and unsettling shape on the page. Having the whole run together lets you follow the mythology as its creator chose to reshape it. It suits horror readers who have long wondered what waits behind the puzzle box and would rather hear it from the man who made it.
