Argentina, Israel, and the Jews

When Israeli agents seized Adolf Eichmann in Buenos Aires in 1960, they set off a diplomatic storm between two young states and raised hard questions for Argentina's Jewish community. Raanan Rein's study traces how that crisis grew out of the years before it, examining relations between Israel and Argentina under Juan Perón, whose government had to weigh friendship with the new Jewish state against its reputation as a haven for fugitive Nazis.
