Rabbit Cooks Up a Cunning Plan

Mountain Lion rules the forest by fear, and every animal knows it might be his supper. The creatures band together with a plan to protect themselves, but it falls short. Only when Rabbit, small and quick-witted, cooks up a cunning scheme of his own do they win their freedom for good.

Andrew Fusek Peters, a storyteller, poet and anthologist, retells this traditional tale with a twist, part of a collection of stories from around the world that open a window on other cultures. Beneath the fun lies a heartening idea about standing up to a bully when strength is not on your side. A lively read-aloud for young listeners who love to see the little one outsmart the big one.
