True Feelings

Christians have rarely agreed about feelings. The charismatic movement of the late twentieth century put experience at the centre of faith and provoked an equally firm suspicion of any talk of emotion in response. Beneath the practical questions of whether to trust our feelings, suppress them or indulge them lies a deeper one: does God himself have feelings?

Drawn from the 2011 Moore College School of Theology and brought together by Michael P. Jensen, these essays cover a cultural overview, theological anthropology, divine passions, the emotional life of Jesus, the Spirit's work in perfecting emotions, preaching the Gospels, and the place of feeling in corporate worship, singing and music. Contributors include Gerald Bray, David Peterson and Robert Smith. It is a thoughtful, wide-ranging collection for pastors, preachers, worship leaders and anyone who suspects the heart deserves careful theology.
