Fruit Fly

Seven years after her debut made her a literary sensation, Mallory has written nothing that works, and obscurity is closing in. Then she meets Leo, a young addict sleeping under bridges and trading sex to survive, and sees not a person in trouble but the material for her comeback. Authenticity sells, after all, and nothing is more authentic than someone else's real life.

Josh Silver turns that premise into a sharp satire of a publishing world hungry for stories that are gay, sad and dark, with a thriller's tension building as Mallory's secrets threaten to unravel more than her career. Underneath it all sits one uneasy question: how far will she go for the perfect story? For anyone who likes their literary fiction knowing, uncomfortable and laced with menace, led by a woman you will not quite trust.
