About this book
The story
I Am Agatha is a literary work of genre fiction set against the vast landscapes of rural New Mexico. This debut novel introduces Agatha, a bristly painter who seeks solitude as a small-town curmudgeon. Her life changes when she meets Alice, a widow struggling with dementia who remains devoted to her daughter's grave. Despite her aversion to sentimentality, Agatha finds herself falling in love, leading to a radical reckoning with loss and the aftermath of love.
As Alice's health declines, Agatha arranges for them to live together at Mesa Portales. When Alice disappears and her son intervenes, Agatha teams up with a young neighbor to launch an unusual mission. This LGBTQ+ book blends elements of small town and rural literature to explore the complexities of the human heart. I Am Agatha, volume 1, is a perceptive study of life, death, and the secrets people keep buried.
