About this book
The story
In 1960, Sylvia Jensen was a naïve seventeen-year-old in a small midwestern town when Anthony Jordane, state wrestling champion and local hero, tried to rape her. In 2025 he is running for the U.S. Senate, and when Sylvia learns his campaign has strong indigenous support, the shock sends her into cardiac arrest. Her old friend J.B. Harrell, an investigative reporter bound to her by decades of feeling, begins digging into a tangle of silence and rumour, and finds his own loyalties pulled in different directions.
This is the fourth and final Sylvia Jensen mystery, a story about how early harm shapes a whole life and how remembering, then acting, can turn pain into justice. It suits readers who like their suspense rooted in character, with an older heroine who refuses to let the past stay buried.
