Aramaic Documents from Egypt

Every word in the Aramaic papyri and documents of ancient Egypt, set in its line and gathered alphabetically: a key-word-in-context concordance to the texts published in the four-volume Textbook of Aramaic Documents from Ancient Egypt, edited by Bezalel Porten and Ada Yardeni. Most of the material dates from the Persian period and is legal, epistolary or administrative, the paperwork of contracts, letters and official business. Alongside the concordance sits a prosopography, an index of the people named in the documents.

Produced for the Comprehensive Aramaic Lexicon project, it is a working tool for students of Aramaic tracing how words fall together, for historians of Persian-era Egypt, and for anyone who studies personal names and what they reveal about language and history.
