The Assistant

Shelby has spent more than three years keeping pace with an eccentric and extremely wealthy entrepreneur in St Louis, the city she calls home. When he sends her to take possession of a mysterious delivery, the errand turns dangerous fast: there is a kidnapping, a shooting, and then her boss vanishes, along with the package.

The detective assigned to the case soon finds that his interest in Shelby is not purely professional, and she is drawn to him in return. Together they set about tracing the missing man and his cargo, crossing paths with a run of strange and menacing characters along the way. A brisk, compact romantic suspense novel for anyone who likes their mysteries with a spark of attraction between the leads.
