The Butterfly Garden

A young woman sits across from two FBI agents and decides how much of the truth to tell. She calls herself Maya, and she is one of the survivors of the Garden, a hidden glasshouse where a man known as the Gardener kept kidnapped girls, each one tattooed with butterfly wings across her back. As the interview unfolds, her guarded, sharp-tongued account slowly reveals what happened inside, and the agents start to wonder what she is still holding back.

Dot Hutchison builds the tension through conversation and memory rather than chases, and Maya's wary, wry voice keeps the darkness bearable. This is the first book in The Collector series and was an Amazon Charts bestseller. It suits readers who like their psychological thrillers unsettling and character-driven, with a narrator they cannot quite trust.
