The Endurance of the Mare, Volume 1, is a history text that examines the intersections of belonging and systemic violence within the Eastern Borderlands of Europe. Author Alyosxa Tudor utilizes family archives to explore the life of Pena, a migrant worker born in 1911 who faced forced displacement and trauma. Through a blend of historical materialist analysis and auto-theory, the book analyzes how intergenerational trauma and state violence shape national identities and kinship.

This work connects Eastern European struggles to global feminist, queer, and anti-racist movements, including those in Palestine. By integrating speculative fiction and memory discourse, The Endurance of the Mare, Volume 1, challenges traditional transnational histories. It proposes a radical transformation of the present by rejecting epistemic innocence and exploring political responsibility.
