All Shell Breaks Loose (A Haunted Shell Shop Mystery)

A bloodstained sword turns up at the Moon Shell, Maureen Nash's seashell shop on Ocracoke Island, carried in by a woman who found it while walking her bulldog on the beach. Only minutes earlier, Maureen heard Dr Irving Allred boasting that he was about to get his hands on an authentic haunted sword. Soon his prize is in police custody, a rival buyer has surfaced, and a man camping nearby is found cut down along the shore.

With Bonny the shop cat and the ghost of a Welsh pirate for company, Maureen helps Captain Rob Tate by digging into the island's maritime history. Meanwhile a visitor claiming to sense spirits somehow misses the one in the room, and her resident ghost starts seeing ghosts of his own.
