## About this book

"In this profound book, the author argues that scapegoating is not some rare, terrible departure from normal social life. Scapegoating, he reveals, is built into human groups, such as nations, which define themselves by exclusion as well as inclusion, by who they are not--as well as who they are. Examining how people unite most forcefully through contrast, fear, and hatred of an Other, he also explores whether or not nationalism and scapegoating can be overcome"-- Provided by publisher.
