Winter of the Bride is a work of historical fiction that weaves together two separate timelines centered on the Gu family estate at Cloud Mountain. In 1806, a servant named Jiayi finds herself in a precarious position after becoming the little wife of the family heir. Her life becomes a struggle for survival as she faces dangerous plots from her husband's relatives.

The narrative shifts to 1906 Shanghai, where a dedicated midwife named Scarlet meets Wenqiang Gu. After a brief courtship, Scarlet moves to the remote village of Cloud Mountain to introduce modern medicine. This volume of fiction explores the connection between Scarlet and Jiayi, as the new bride discovers a legacy of superstition and a century-old curse that threatens her future.
