The phone is lying where Lucy should be. Simone brought her teenage daughter to Texas for some much-needed time together, but on their first night in the desert she wakes to find Lucy gone and an unfamiliar mobile in her place. When it rings, the message is stark: Lucy has been taken, and the price of getting her back is a crime that Simone must commit herself.

Gillian McAllister, the Sunday Times bestselling author of Wrong Place Wrong Time and Famous Last Words, builds this novel on a simple, terrible premise. Simone is certain there is nothing she would not do to save her child, yet becoming a wanted woman turns out to be only the beginning. A taut, emotional thriller for anyone who likes their suspense with a mother's fierce love at its centre.
