## About this book

France, 1785, and the Beast of Gévaudan is killing again. Professor Sebastian Grave has hunted monsters for centuries, with the demon Sarmodel living inside him, and twenty years ago he followed this creature through one long, bloody winter that very nearly finished him. Now he is summoned back by Antoine Avenel d'Ocerne, the lover he parted from, a man bound to the Beast by his own dark history and to Sebastian by a secret neither can escape.

Cameron Sullivan takes the real eighteenth-century legend and turns it into a lush, dark and openly queer fantasy, as interested in old love and unfinished guilt as in the hunt itself. For anyone who likes their folklore bloody, sensual and richly told, with a love story at its centre that cuts as deep as the Beast's claws.
