## About this book

Small carved beetles of stone and faience were among the most common objects in ancient Egypt, used as seals, amulets and signet rings, and Percy Newberry, one of the leading British Egyptologists of his day, set out to explain how to study them. Originally published in 1906, his introduction covers Egyptian seals and signet rings and is generously illustrated, with forty-four plates and over a hundred figures in the text.

This is a facsimile reprint of a public domain work, so expect the look and feel of an Edwardian scholarly volume. For collectors, students of Egyptology and anyone who has peered at a scarab in a museum case and wanted to know more.
