About this book
Two family clans, the Darks and the Penhallows, have consistently married into one another for the last sixty years. Aunt Becky, the matriarch of the families, has just announced that she will be passing down her prized possession - an heirloom jug - in one year's time.
She will not reveal the new owner of the jug until then. Spanning a year in the interweaving lives of these families, this humorous tale keeps the reader guessing right up until the end.
Along the way fiancés are stolen, broken relationships are mended and new romances begin.
Watching over all is the mysterious Moon Man, with his gift of second sight.
One of Montgomery's two adult novels, this is a touching and funny portrayal of large families and the characters that inhabit them.
