Tom Gates is not famous (yet)

Tom Gates has his eye on stardom, and he is quite sure it is only a matter of time. The latest instalment of Liz Pichon's doodle-crammed series is full of starry-eyed dreams, family chaos and everyday mishaps, with Marcus Meldrew, Tom's ever-irritating classmate, putting on some proper diva behaviour along the way.

Every page mixes handwriting, cartoons and scribbled asides, so the jokes land as much in the pictures as in the words. A cheerful, laugh-out-loud read for children who like their stories silly and their margins crowded.
