About this book
The story
A senior police officer, an inspector general from Delhi, comes back to Mussoorie, the hill town where he grew up, and finds his own past waiting for him there. This short novel is built from his recollections, as the town draws out memories of his earlier life.
Tom Alter, best known as an actor, was raised in Mussoorie himself, which gives this slim book the feel of a place known from the inside. It will suit readers drawn to quiet Indian fiction in English about homecoming and memory.
