On the Calculation of Volume V

The eighteenth of November keeps returning, and Tara Selter keeps living it. In this fifth volume of Solvej Balle's septology, the day that once held her apart from the world begins to open outward: her ties to the people around her grow deeper, and a life beyond her husband, Thomas, comes unexpectedly into view.

Balle writes time loops without tricks or puzzles, attending instead to the small facts of a day lived over and over: weather, objects, the quiet arithmetic of being alive. Those who have followed Tara this far will find the series moving into warmer, more peopled territory. It suits anyone who likes their fiction patient, precise and quietly strange.
